Description #
This lecture offers an overview of thyroid physiology, including exploration of the three general categories of lab tests useful for the investigation of thyroid diseases. We will look at Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Thyroid Axis (HPT axis), thyroid hormones, and discover how to establish the presence of and determine the cause of thyroid dysfunction. This lecture will then present four case studies that will cover Grave’s Disease, Toxic Multinodular Goiters, Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, Sick Euthyroid Syndrome and tumor markers for certain thyroid cancers.
