Description #
In this lecture students will consider the disposition of drugs as characterized by parameters describing distribution and elimination, and measuring the apparent volume of distribution. The lecture also covers the kinetics of drug elimination, and practical applications for the half-lives of drugs.
Learning Objectives #
- Drug Dosing Regimens
- Quantitative Pharmokinetic Parameters ! Apparent volume of distribution
- Elimination half-life
- Kinetics of Drug Elimination
- Practical applications of K or half-life.
- Time course of drug elimination
- Dosing interval in chronic therapy
- Calculation of maintenance doses in chronic therapy
- Attainment of steady state drug concentrations in plasma with repeated administration ! Calculation of intravenous infusion rates
