Description #
This lecture begins with study of the endocrine pancreas, insulin, hypoglycemia and non-insulin drugs for diabetes mellitus. We will then consider pharmacology of the thyroid, including the endocrine feedback loop, thyroid hormone replacement, and treatment of primary hyperthyroidism. This lecture then describes drugs that affect lipid metabolism and exogenous and endogenous lipid metabolism pathways. Moving on we look at fibric acid derivatives, bile acid sequestrates, and PCSK9 inhibitors. Finally this lecture addresses pharmacology of the Adrenal and Pituitary glands. We look at treatment of chronic adrenal insufficiency, with mineralocorticoids, growth hormones, and hypercortisolism. The lecture then considers the Prolactin Control Loop, and ends with study of testosterone metabolism and testosterone/androgen deficiency and deprivation therapy.
