Description #
This unit provides the student with a 4 hour practical lab experience in the CanHealth where they will have the opportunity to work with an expert in Airway Management and also to work through a Procedural sedation case scenario. The student will be videotaped during the scenario and a meeting will be held with the instructor post scenario to give feedback on the experience.
Learning Objectives #
At the end of this module, the student should be able to:
- a) Identify anatomical structures of the airway.
- b) Identify anatomical changes due to obesity
- c) Reproduce the displacement of the larynx on airway model using BURP, as directed by the Anesthesiologist role.
- d) Recognize: i. Cannot intubate, can ventilate, ii. Pulse oximetry display changes and importance
- e)Recognize and manage common complications of Procedural Sedation
