Description #
In this lecture, we begin with an overview of hypertension and secondary hypertension, as well as an overview of adrenal anatomy and histology. This leads us to explore adrenal medualla, Cushing’s Syndrome, and biochemical disturbances. We will discuss how to screen for CS and how to treat it, and then look at Adrenal Adenoma Gross Pathology. We will consider medications used to treat hypertension in the adrenal system, and how the timing of the test, and diet and posture of the patient can provide important considerations when interpreting the results. This lecture concludes with a study of the Aldosterone:PRA ratio, saline suppression as a prototype, adrenal venous sampling, and pheochromocytoma (PCC).
