Description #
In this lecture we will first consider the epidemiology, diagnosis and pathophysiology of antidepressants. We will look at the mechanisms of drug action, and a closer look at MAO inhibitors, MAOI hypertensive crisis, tricyclic antidepressants, and SSRIs, and others. This lecture will also discuss serotonin syndrome. Next we will explore antidepressant pharmacotherapy and treatment of resistant depression, and look at some complementary and alternative therapies. This lecture then considers antidepressant use in children and adolescents and antidepressant use in pregnant women. Finally, this lecture ends with a discussion about possible substance interactions.
