Description #
This lecture first provides an introduction to the pharmacology of diuretics and its basic principles. We will then consider the mechanism of edema formation, and the mechanism of renal tubular reabsorption of Na . Next the lecture provides an overview of tubular sites of action in major classes of diuretics. We will also look at the structure and function of the Nephron Unit. This lecture then explores the therapeutic uses of diuretics, “Loop” diuretics and potassium-sparing diuretics. Finally this lecture will discuss diuretic toxicities.
