Description #
This lecture begins with an overview of the nature of pharmacological receptors and the role of receptors in drug action. We will review classification methods for receptors and the quantitation of pharmacological responses. The lecture will explore Graded Dose / Concentration-Response Curves, and the molecular aspects and mass-action analysis of pharmacology. From there we consider molecular aspects of potency/efficacy, and the law of mass action and drug antagonism. We will look at applications of mass-action analysis, and approaches to achieving selectivity of drug action, and finally, targeting techniques.
