Description #
This lecture is concerned with four main areas of emergency radiology: radiology of the chest, neuroradiology, skeletal radiology and abdominal radiology. In terms of radiology of the chest, we will cover interpretation of chest X-rays and technical factors that can alter results, as well as radiology for aortic dissection, tension pneumothorax, pulmonary edemas and flash pulmonary edemas, and pulmonary embolisms, among others. We then turn to neuroradiology, looking at acute MCA infarctions, uncial herniation, subdural hematomas and epidural hematomas, diffuse subarachnoid hemorrhages, cerebellar hemorrhages and foreign bodies in soft tissue. Moving to skeletal radiology, we will consider lunate dislocation, perilunate dislocation, scaphoid fractures, bilateral tibial plateau fractures, lipohemoarthrosis, Segond fractures, radial head fractures and C-spine fractures. Finally, we focus on abdominal radiology, looking at acute abdominal pain, small bowel obstruction, acute appendicitis, Sigmoid Volvulus and Ischemic Colitis with portal venous gas.
