Description #
This lecture begins with an overview of approaches to routine C-spine series and classification of C-spine injuries. We then look at radiographic indications of unstable fractures, and how to order the appropriate tests for each patient. The lecture describes the Canadian C-spine rule, and practical functionalities such as imaging for skeletal trauma, Later Cervical Spine Films, and taking soft tissue measurements and treating prevertebral soft tissue swelling. We then look at the Alantodental Interval, Harris’ Ring, what to look for in the AP film and what to look for in the open-mouthed odontoid view. This lecture then provides a closer investigation of burst fractures, Hangman’s fracture, Alantooccipital Dissociation, Jefferson’s fractures, Extension Teardrop fractures, Flexion Teardrop fractures and addressing degenerative diseases.
