Description #
This lecture begins with a review of normal brain anatomy and basic approaches to reading a CT scan of the brain. We will cover the various types of head CT, such as a spiral CT and others. We will consider contrast issues and the clinical utility of contrast, and then move through relevant radiographic considerations such as Hounsfield Unit and windowing. Next this lecture describes the three planes of head imaging, and provides relevant information concerning the cerebral vascular territories, midline structures and shifts, ventricles, cisterns, lobes, brainstems and deep structures, infarcts, hematomas, hemorrhage, and density of blood.
